The Three C's of Utilizing Canva for Your Business

The Three C's of Utilizing Canva for Your Business, How take your designs from basic to professional, helping you build the brand of your dreams.

We all know that in today's digital age, your business's visual presence can make or break your brand. Whether you’re designing social media posts, flyers, or presentations, the power of effective design lies in mastering the three C’s: Color, Consistency, and Creation.

With Canva, bringing these elements to life has never been easier!

Canva is a game changer for small businesses. They provide a platform for easy-to-use templates and design tools that don't require an advanced knowledge of design and the platform. The biggest bonus is that it's available entirely for free, and their paid plan is highly affordable.

But — simply having the tool isn't enough. Knowing how to maximize Canva's potential for your business is the key to making your business shine. In this post, we're exploring the "Three C's" of Canva that will take your designs from basic to professional, helping you build the brand of your dreams.

01 | Color

Color isn't just a design element — it's a powerful psychological tool. The colors your choose in your branding and marketing materials actually affect how your audience perceives your brand and the emotion(s) they associate with it. That's why choosing the right color pallet (and sticking to it) is crucial in building a recognizable brand.

In Canva, you can easily experiment with different color schemes using their ready-made palettes, or create a custom palette that aligns with your brand's personality. Once you're happy with your color choices — it's time to add your colors into Canva's brand kit. Please note that this is a pro feature only. Here's how you do it:

  1. Log in to your canva.com account or create one if you don't have an account already.

  2. On the left hand side of your screen, click on the "brand" button.

  3. Select your brand kit OR click the "add new" button on the right side of your screen.

  4. Scroll down until you find the "colors" section, click the "add new" button and select "color palette." You can then either choose one of Canva's premade palettes or select "add a custom palette" to begin creating your own.

  5. Click on the "Add New" button with the plus symbol. Using your hex codes, type or paste them into the box that pops up. Do this with each of your brand colors.

  6. Bonus — if you work with a team, you can also add guidelines on how to specifically use these colors!

Now you can access your brand kit every time you create a new design!

02 | Consistency

Brand consistency goes hand-in-hand with building trust. Imagine following a brand on Instagram that uses sleek, modern fonts and soft color schemes, only to click over to their website and be met with bold, mismatched colors and an entirely different vibe. Jarring, right? This inconsistency can confuse customers and even push them away.

With Canva, maintaining consistency is a breeze. You can save your brand’s fonts, colors, and logo in Canva’s “Brand Kit” feature, ensuring that every design element stays uniform across all platforms. By using consistent design elements in your social media posts, email campaigns, and website, you’ll create a cohesive brand experience that customers recognize, trust, and return to.

Remember, consistency is what transforms sporadic marketing into a reliable brand identity.

03 | Creation

We're finally at the fun part creation! Canva allows you to turn your ideas into professional-quality visuals quickly and effortlessly, regardless of your design experience.
